Musical Director - Sarah Sharpe, M.A., B.Mus(Hons), P.G.C.E., L.T.C.L.

Sarah studied at the Cardiff University School of Music where she gained both Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees. There she performed as principal clarinettist, performing as soloist with the University Orchestra, Sarah has taught music for twenty years and was Head of Music at Tasker Milward School until 2018. She is known in the area as an accomplished clarinettist, singer, accompanist, teacher and member of bands including ‘The Connections’, ‘Sharpe Music Duo’ and ‘The Crook Family’. She performed with ‘The Crook Family’ for the BBC Radio Wales ‘Evening Show; for Alan Thompson and performed live for a BBC broadcast with Mal Pope and ‘The Storeys’. Sarah also performed at the St. David’s Hall, Cardiff with Ian Anderson and the band ‘Jethro Tull’. She has now undertaken a change in career as a professional musician with ‘Sharpe Music’ and is a resident musician at the Bluestone National Park resort. Sarah is a trustee for the Young Music Makers of Dyfed charity, performs with the vocal group ‘Bella Voce’, is the Musical Director of Performing Arts at Pembrokeshire College and woodwind teacher, as well as taking on the role of Musical Director of the Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir.


Deputy Musical Director - Hywel Davies

Having sung in the choir for a short period in 2017, Hywel joined the choir (this time for good} in 2021 and agreed to give conducting a try earlier in 2023. Hywel grew up singing with Cor Iau Newyddion Da in Maeclochog, with whom he sang in the Royal Albert Hall in 2000. He left Pembrokeshire for Cardiff in 2008 to work as a Gas Engineer. Whilst in Cardiff, he sang with the mixed choir CF1 where his final performance with the choir was in winning the BBC Choir of the Year in 2014 at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. On his return to Pembrokeshire, Hywel threw himself into YFC and as result of a YFC Eisteddfod Competition, was a founder member of the Male Choir, Bechgyn Jemeima under the leadership of his former singing teacher, Mrs Marilyn Lewis. Hywel now works as a Dairy Engineer across the South Wales area and in his spare time, plays cricket for Crymych CC and plays the Tuba for Goodwick Brass Band.

Accompanist - Peter Griffiths

Peter has been the Choir’s accompanist since January 2011, He began playing the piano at the age of seven and the double bass and flute at the age of 12.  He undertook a two-year course at Cardiff College of Music at the age 0f 18 completing his studies at weekends and in his spare time, whilst holding down a full-time job.  He has accompanied the Milford Haven Amateur Operatic Society for 5 years.  He continues to accompany the Neyland Ladies Choir and has been playing for them for 23 years.  Peter has many commitments with Churches and Chapels in the area as well as helping local schools.  In 2016, Peter was given two very prestigious awards by Pembrokeshire County Council and Milford Haven Council for his outstanding contribution to music.  Peter enjoys the Male Voice Choir very much, enjoying the banter with the boys and is included in everything the choir does.  During the Choir’s 10-month period without a Musical Director, he was the key to keeping the choir afloat.
